Employment

Are you a young person looking for help with employment? Would you like assistance with interviewing, CV Preparation and Job searching?  Donegal Youth Service has a long tradition of helping young people find employment. Youth work plays an important role in youth employability and the aim of Donegal Youth Service is to support young people in building confidence, finding opportunities and for personal growth.

Two of our projects Youthscape and Reactiv8 work on youth employability.  We also offer help and support for employment at any time through the Youth Information Centre.

Donegal Youth Service has been engaged in the Community Employment Scheme throughout the county for nearly two decades and has an excellent track record with facilitating adults in the community into gaining employment.

Donegal Youth Service mentors young people and adults on placements from an array of educational institutions and training centres, with over 50 placement students coming through our doors each year.

Young people at secondary level have the opportunity to work close with staff gaining an insight into professional working environments and helping them explore further their interests. Many adults coming from training centres and third level education have the opportunity to test out the skills they are learning in practice and engage in a professional work environment with the support and mentoring of our professional staff.

Employment is a complex issue and young people often need consistent and personal support in other areas of their lives to facilitate them in their search for jobs. The Youth Information centre has a specific aim of working towards the reduction of youth unemployment through the provision of a daily drop-in centre where young people can avail of our weekly job lists, information provision, listening ear service, advocacy and personal support. Specifically, young people aged 16-25 years have the opportunity to benefit from focused one-to-one employment support. This employability programme focuses on enhancing a young person’s capacity for gaining employment and more importantly, maintaining that employment.

The programme is tailor designed into 4 Stages focusing on :
