Personal Youth Development Programme
ESSENTIAL SKILLS LITERACY TUTOR & NUMERACY TUTOR REQUIRED
Main duties of each Tutor will include:
- Delivery of the new refreshed Essential Skills Curriculum & implement appropriate training & assessment programmes to enable learners to achieve Essential Skills qualifications as per Open College Network requirements
- Work with the existing youth work team to identify and provide classes according to level and provide support for interim testing
- Provide one to one training and education & pastoral support to learners appropriate to their individual needs to achieve the qualification Provide experiential learning opportunities for young person’s personal development in partnership with the youth work team
- Work to OCN reporting requirements – registration, delivery, monitoring, collection of evidence & documentation made ready to the Internal Verifier & complete appropriate Awarding Body OCN documentation Work within the required systems & procedures with Donegal Youth Service in order to implement effective training & development
Develop & maintain appropriate resources/learning packages for the effective delivery of the Essential Skills qualifications
Part-time/temporary posts (10hrs per week) subject to funding – Salary: DEL Tutor rates (pro rata)
ESSENTIAL: Literacy Tutor candidates MUST hold a BSc Degree obtained at a University in the UK or ROI, of which English forms a minimum of 50% of the subject studied, or obtained at any other university, provided the Department accepts the standard and content of that degree as equivalent to those stated above; for example
- English Language
- English Literature
- English Language and Literature
- English with Drama and Media
- English with Education
ESSENTIAL: Numeracy Tutor candidates MUST hold a BSC Degree obtained at a University in the UK or ROI, of which Mathematics forms a minimum of 50% of the subject studied, or obtained at any other university, provided the Department accepts the standard and content of that degree as equivalent to those stated above; for example
- Additional Maths
- Applied Mathematics
- Computer Science and Maths
- Mathematics
- Mathematics Science
- Maths and Computer Studies
- Pure Mathematics
Both posts must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post, must be willing to undertake Garda vetting (ROI) and AccessNI (NI) clearance checks prior to taking up any post.
DESIRABLE:
- Certificate in Teaching or PGCE
- or able to meet all the requirements as outlined in the DEL tutor education policy to deliver
