Innoblue Project – Part-Time Development Worker

 

Accountable to: Lorraine Thompson – Regional Director

Reports to: Frankie Mc Greevy Line Manager

Based in: tbc

Period: October 2023 to August 2026

Part time Post – 21 hours

Summary of Main Responsibilities:

The post-holder will be a part of a wider staff team and a consortium of partners delivering the Innoblue Interreg funded project. The aim of the project is to deliver social innovation training to young people in the Innoblue designated communities. Innoblue is a collaborative European wide social innovation project that fosters entrepreneurship, employment, and education in designated blue economy areas in both urban and rural contexts in Ireland and Europe.

The project will involve using innovative  technology and software as well as participating in training and the facilitation of workshops both here in Ireland and in Europe along with our European partners. The post-holder will be expected to maintain high quality standards in all aspects of the role and to advise the Project Manager of any necessary changes required in order to maintain best practice in this area.

Duties in detail:

The Development Worker will:-

  • support the development of positive sustainable relationships in identified areas; Ireland and Europe
  • provide development support in planning events in local information-sharing, workshops and training.
  • proactively support and develop in the partnership area across Donegal
  • coordinate delivery of a range of facilitated social innovation, entrepreneurship and shared learning workshops;
  • coordinate development of a partnership cluster augmented reality visioning project through a harmonised participatory planning approach
  • attend and service meetings of the projects Management Committee;
  • provide regular reports to the Project Management Committee;
  • work as an active convenor of group sessions;
  • ensure that all project and group meetings, events, training and workshops are accurately recorded and issues arising are promptly dealt with;
  • liaise with the project manager to maintain all project documentation and records, including project reports, administration monitoring and financial returns to the funder, ensuring that these are kept up to date and in order;

Other duties:

  • further develop and promote the membership of the partnership project;
  • represent the interests of the partnership project at relevant training, workshops and other events as required;
  • undertake training as required;
  • actively participate in project monitoring, ongoing reviews and evaluations;
  • attend team meetings, management meetings and other relevant meetings as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

  1. A relevant third level Qualification in Youth & Community Development or relevant discipline (i.e. Community Relations, Teaching, Social Sciences) and
  2. A minimum of 2 years’ experience, within the last 5 years, in the area of social entrepreneurship and innovation projects with young people
  3. Demonstrable experience of formal project planning, management and delivery.
  4. Experience of planning and organising training
  5. Experience of delivering social innovation and entrepreneurial capacity building work in a local and international context.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:

  1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  2. Ability to successfully engage with a diverse range of stakeholders in the blue economy
  3. Knowledge of current issues within the social economy and social entrepreneurship in particular.
  4. Knowledge and understanding of the specific issues and difficulties associated with the blue economy.
  5. Excellent group work, facilitation and negotiation skills.
  6. Knowledge and experience of implementing a range of policies, procedures & practices in relation to innovation and entrepreneurial skills.

High level of computer literacy with experience of using a range of packages e.g. MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook & online delivery facilitation
