Aspire

Two of our longest running projects ‘The Daybreak Programme’ and Youth Outreach Project’ merged into an exciting new project called ‘Aspire’ under a new funding stream ‘UBU, Your Place, Your Space’ from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Inclusion & Youth (DCEDIY).

Aspire will bring together key elements of both programmes, as well as a range of new and innovative options and will work to the 5 National Outcomes for young people and the 7 Proximal Outcomes; Communication, Confidence, Planning & Problem Solving, Relationships, Creativity, Resilience & Emotional Intelligence. We will work to design programmes that allow the full potential of each participant to be realised.

Targeted Support

Aspire targets young people 10-25 yrs with a particular focus on LGBTI + Young People, Young Travellers, Early School Leavers & Rural Youth Clubs through:

  • Classroom Based Assessment
  • Tailored Programmes
  • One to One Supports
  • Youth Club Programmes

Classroom Based Assessment (CBA)

We have devised a series of programmes aimed at supporting early school leavers, including; ‘Moving On’ a transition programme for 6th class students and a ‘Settling In’ transition programme for 1st years. Continued support for early school leavers with classroom based assessment and personal & social development programmes all responding to individual need.

Tailored Programmes

We have developed a number of tailored youth programmes to meet young people’s identified needs. These programmes include: Personal & Social Development, Life Skills, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, Internet Safety, Sexual Health Awareness, Positive Mental Health Awareness as well as other programmes specifically designed to support young people.

One to One Supports (YouthTalk)

Youth Talk Donegal is a free and confidential one to one support service for young people aged 12-25 years. Young people experiencing difficulty in their life can avail of this support to help them cope with issues such as bullying, sexuality, family conflict, problems at school or friendship/relationship difficulties or anything else they may be struggling with.

Youth Club Programmes

Aspire provides a support service to affiliated youth clubs and projects located across the county.
