Donegal Youth Service Celebration Event 2017
Donegal Youth Service’s annual ‘Celebration Event’ is almost upon us. The big evening takes place on Thursday the 23rd of November in an Grianán Theatre at 7pm. This year things will be a little different, as a number of tickets have been made available for interested members of the public for the first time.
This annual event is an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the diversity of the work which takes place within Donegal Youth Service projects and youth clubs throughout the county. It is also an opportunity to recognise the clubs and individuals making a huge impact in their communities through a number of awards.
Last year the ‘Special Recognition Award’ was renamed the ‘Orla O’Reilly Special Recognition Award’ in honour of their much beloved and missed colleague Orla O’Reilly who died tragically in 2015. Other awards that will be given out on the night are ‘Young Person of The Year’, ‘DYS Volunteer of The Year’, ‘DYS Youth Club of The Year’,‘Youth Club Volunteer of The Year’ and ‘DYS Volunteer of The Year’ to name a few.
There will also be plenty of entertainment on the night with several performances from talented young people from Club Óige Chríost Rí, and Malin Head Youth Club. There is also going to be short films and photos from projects throughout the year, as well as an interview with DYS Chairperson Marina Carlin, and DYS Regional Director Lorraine Thompson.
This is a unique opportunity to see, and hear about the work that Donegal Youth Service do throughout the county. They work on a range of projects dealing with issues like physical and mental health, LGBT, employment support, summer camps, volunteering abroad, young carers and much more. If you are interested in attending please contact DYS on facebook.com/donegalyouthservice as tickets are limited.
