Donegal Youth Service is the key youth work agency in Donegal and works to deliver generic and explicit youth work programmes and activities that best meet the needs of young people and the adults who support them.
Donegal Youth Service is an energetic and contemporary youth organisation constantly striving to meet the needs of the ever changing youth population.
We are a unique service in that we are locally managed and can respond quickly to local need.
The organisational headquarters are based in Letterkenny and the service extends throughout Donegal with 33 affiliated Youth Clubs countywide and a range of projects that provide programmes and training to over 5000 young people and over 600 adult volunteers.
We also manage the ‘Daybreak' Early School Leavers Project, Letterkenny Youth Information Centre, Planet Youth Project in Ballybofey; Cross Border Connections Peace III funded project and co-manage the LOFT Youth Health Café project.
The newly established Planet Youth Project in Ballybofey is the first of our four cluster areas to be realised as a satellite centre, offering a range of planned programmes, a smaller scale than the main Headquarters but no less important.
We are an independent, locally based youth service agency managed by a voluntary Board of Directors and a Member Service of Youth Work Ireland (formerly known as the National Youth Federation).
Donegal Youth Service is a Company Limited by Guarantee with Charitable status. It is led by a Chairperson and a Board of 13 Directors, most of who work directly with young people across the county. Donegal Youth Service is managed by a Regional Director and supported by 15 core staff and 15 Community Employment Workers.
